My Story
Hi! My name is Kitty Schaub, and I am a fine art photographer based in Southwest Michigan. My passion for photography started when I became a mother, and taking photos became an everyday activity. I stumbled backward into starting a business - and now I can't begin to imagine my life without it. I dreamt of being an artist when I grew up, and now I am! I am deeply inspired by vintage children's illustrations, as well as artists like Norman Rockwell and Andrew Wyeth. A painterly eye for light is very important to me, and the first thing I think about when I take photos.
My husband David and I grew up in St. Joseph, and we moved back home once we had our kids. We fell in love with the area's natural beauty and the community's warmth and friendliness. Our little corner of Michigan is truly paradise, and we feel blessed to call it home. I like the snow as much as I love the beach, so it's perfect here. We have three children; Gavin, 16, who you will rarely see in photos, but might meet as he helps me carry the heavy props around, or drives me something I forgot - lol! Jared, 15, is headed to a fine arts boarding school to carry on the family musical legacy. And Amelie, 12, is my main inspiration, and anyone who has seen my photos would recognize her. These days, I have to fork over hard cash instead of lollipops, but she still models for me (for now!). I also have a beagle puppy, Ollie, who is too naughty to pose for me, but hopefully someday!
